National Kids Camp 2009

Well Kids,

Friday is D-Day for you, and with 150 turning up, it feels like it for us too!

Mr S and I have ordered the food, the boards, the mats, the pads, the fear factor food, the guest instructors, the themes, the prizes……it’s a big list but we are ready for you all.

Please don’t forget to bring all the gear on your list, the hat and sunblock in particular as these often get forgotten, but especially any spare mattresses if you can fit them in. I have seen some of the home-baking already, and heard about some others. It’s going to be tough on the judges this year, but someone will walk away with $100 cold hard cash!

Again thanks to our sponsors, ITFNZ for the huge discount they provide to enable the camp to be just $20 again, and Top Pro for providing $250 worth of sparring gear for the best camp student. I am looking forward very much to giving that prize away this year.

Drive safely, try to be here before 8pm if you can, and we will see you all tomorrow!

Mr B & Mr S

Below is the final list for camp attendees.  As you can see I have many many parents, but that’s ok, we will all just get along! (Those of you that backed out gracefully, I thank you) Thank you also to those parent helpers that have paid $20 for themselves as well as their child, you didn’t have to. If you paid unintentionally, it’s your own fault for not reading the entry form correctly.

All extra fees were great appreciated as ITFNZ sponsor us for the camp, but as we have many more this year than last, we have had to be very careful with the budget. If you want to know what things your annual registration fee is used for by ITFNZ, the juniors camp is one of them. So I would like to take the time to thank ITFNZ very much, because without this sponsorship the camp would cost at least $50 per child.

I would also like to announce another sponsorship deal. Each year at the camp the most outstanding student wins a prize. This is not presented to the best practitioner of Taekwon-Do, but to the student that shows the tenets the best over the whole weekend. This year, TopPro have sponsored us for a full set of sparring gear, including headgear, to be presented to the winner. This is a package worth $250. Thanks very much TopPro, love your work!

Now to bedding. Gentlemen (adult gentlemen that is), I have put you all in tents. Usually we mix and match, but as we have twice as many parents as beds, I have on advice from my wife put all the ladies in the dorms, while us men folk will be roughing it outdoors. So please bring a mattress as well as all your other bedding…or roughing it will be more literal. If it looks like rain for the weekend, bring a shovel as well. Feel free to bring a camp bed, stretcher…whatever you think is necessary.

Ok, that’s about it I think. See you all in 4 weeks time.

Mr B & Mr S

Hi Kids,

It’s back, for the 7th Year!

ITFNZ proudly presents the 7th Annual ITFNZ National Juniors Camp, open to all 14 year olds and younger.

To be held in the Bay of Plenty at Aongatete Lodge during the weekend of 27-29th November.

The organisers have negotiated with the lodge to allow more children to stay, more details on that later. The application form for the camp will be up on this site in late September following the Nationals.

More details about the camp and the “extra” entertainment this year will be posted here, but rest assured, there will still be:

  • Training, training, and more training
  • Swimming, weather permitting
  • $100 first prize for the best cake baker
  • $10 spot prizes
  • Best camp attendee sponsored prize
  • Fear Factor Food Contest...beat the Instructors team!
  • Saturday Night Live Entertainment Spectacular...with a twist!
  • Games Galore
  • Puzzle mania...challenge the Organisers team!
  • Dorm Inspections
  • Cooking, Cleaning, and Contests!
  • And last but not least, Guest Instructors
