Day 6 Pix-2
Management hired a couple of taxi vans and arranged for the coaches and team
to visit some of the highlights of Tegucigalpa. In true Honduras style we
all squished into the vans for the 3 hour round trip.
Here's a photographic record of the "tour"
This young girl has been begging at the intersection down from the Hotel for the last few days.

Typical street scene as we climb into the hills

We pass by a pretty poor area

Local children

Some houses of the poor up close

Gatekeeper at the park entrance at the top of the mountain. Guys in yellow are our taxi drivers. they don't speak any English which makes communications interesting but we manage pretty well.

We walk/climb up to this lookout area

Very steep steps

Magnificent view over Tegucigalpa city

Coaches posing for the camera

Jess starts a trend, we all start taking photos of each other.

Heading back to the mini-vans through the gardens

Our escort. They had 2-way radios and the machete is for protection against any wild dogs. We didn't see any.

The gateman

Some living conditions are pretty shocking - this is the worst we saw

Back in the city and we cruise by some of the street markets. We don't stop. Lots of people and lots of traffic.

When the traffic grinds to a stop standard practice is to beep your horn until it begins to move again!

Vendor makes a sale of a cucumber

These guys are playing drafts with beer tops on a hand made board

Fresh buns for sale

4.20pm and the markets are closing. The roads choke up. We're not far from the Hotel here. Everyone is pleased to get out of the vans and back into the Hotel for a swim or shower.
