Kerikeri ITFNZ Taekwon-Do has 40 members with a huge age, ability and grade range. We cater for very competitive people who compete at the highest level nationally and internationally through to those take the sport at club level to challenge themselves. New members are welcome to start at all times. Our club trains all year except for a 4 week break over Christmas. We all look forward to seeing and training with you.

Mr Pygott started training in 1985 at the age of 24. He gained his 1st dan in 1989 and his 5th dan in 2013.
In 1990 Mr Pygott started his first club on the Hibiscus Coast. Since then he, along with his wife, Shirley, has opened 7 clubs. Mr Pygott became an ITFNZ Life member in 2005 for his services to the organisation. He has been on various committees including: chairperson of Standards & Discipline (6yrs), Secretary of the ITFNZ Executive (8yrs), and ITFNZ Board member (13yrs). Mr Pygott became a regional examiner in 2005. His clubs have had a family focus. Mr Pygott is one of our most enthusiastic, hard working and loyal Instructors.

Mrs Debbie Hart started training in 2003 in The Gardens before transferring to PaulM Papakura under Master Paul McPhail in 2004. In 2013 she become Co-Instructor with Mr Jon Sawden at Calibre Henderson and then took over the Club as Hart Taekwon-Do in 2014.

Mr Ireland started Taekwon Do in late 1994 and he says that becoming an Instructor in 2002 has been the most rewarding achievement of his life. As an Instructor he enjoys being part of helping individuals improve their quality of life through excellence in Taekwon-Do.

Grand Master Paul McPhail began his training in 1975, and was promoted to 1st dan black belt at age sixteen. In 1985 he moved to Auckland to become a professional Taekwon-Do instructor.
Grand Master McPhail began examining in 1988 on his promotion to 4th dan black belt and in 1994 he was awarded the Outstanding Instructor Medal from the International Taekwon-Do Federation. He was promoted to 9th dan in 2021. Master McPhail is the Technical Advisor and Chief Examiner for the International Taekwon-Do Foundation of New Zealand. He wrote the ITFNZ Techniques and Self Defence Syllabus handbooks which are in use throughout the Country, and is the author of the book Taekwon-Do - Beginners Training Manual, which is in its 5th Printing.
Mrs Robinson started Taekwon-Do in February 2001 in the Bay of Islands. She joined ITFNZ at Meadowbank Club in October 2001 and stayed there until the middle of 2013. She instructing Warrior Taekwon-Do in January 2014.

Mr Sudyatmiko started training 1987 in Indonesia. He joined the ITF 1998, grading under Grandmaster Leong Wai Meng and served as a President and founding member of the International Taekwon-Do Foundation of Indonesia (ITFI). He re-tested for 4th degree with Master Rocky Rounthwaite as an examiner in 2008. In 2011 he graded to 5th degree under Grand Masters Paul Weiler and Kim Ung Lan.

Mr Joe started training in Taekwon-Do under under Master Rocky Rounthwaite in 1980. He was the Instructor of the Massey University Club in Palmerston North for 4 years from 1985-1989.

Mr Nguyen undertook his first Taekwon-Do training as a special force ranger with the SVN Army. Later in New Zealand he returned to Taekwon-Do training with his children under Master Rhee. He achieved 1st dan black belt in 1998 and went on to be an instructor. In 2000 he joined ITFNZ and in 2004 graded 2nd Dan.
Mr Nguyen has run schools in Manurewa, Remuera and currently in Royal Oak. This school is an exciting mix of all ages from 5 to 54 years old; we welcome inquires to those who are looking to take up this discipline. Dr. Nguyen (nee Thach) commenced training, age 13 years, Papatoetoe Club in 1996 under initial Instructors Mr Sam Clark and Mr Kane Raukura. She obtained 1st degree black belt, aged 17 years, whilst studying medicine at Otago University in 2000.
She trained under a number of great Instructors whilst travelling around NZ to complete her medical degree, including Wellington, Hawkes Bay and has been based permanently in Auckland since 2005. She obtained 4th degree at aged 24 years in Rotorua, 2008.
Mr Morris started training in 2007 at Tamaki Taekwon-Do, achieving his 1st Dan in 2010 under Dr Thu Nguyen and Mrs Chanthie Korff.
Achieving his 4th Dan in 2020, Mr Morris has stepped into a senior instructor role within the Tamaki Club.
