Taekwon-Do Television 2006
Thanks to your support, the 3 DVD set is available now!
Thank
you to all those who emailed to express their interest
in owning Taekwon-Do Television on DVD.
The 3 DVD set is available now - in time for Christmas!
The set includes the 98 minute Sky Sport special, and
all eight 25 minute Triangle Television episodes. We even
included a few small special features!
Watch Triangle Television on Saturday nights at 8:30pm
Taekwon-Do Television, the eight weeks series about the
2006 National Championships, is now airing on Triangle
Television in Auckland.
Watch
the show on Saturday nights at 8:30pm, right through
Christmas and the New Year.
Unfortunately Taekwon-Do Television is not playing on
Triangle Television in Wellington. However, you will be
able to buy the entire series on DVD very soon!
Taekwon-Do Television is complete and ready to air!
Messrs Syed, Matthews and Banicevich breathe a huge sigh
of relief. After hundreds of hours of effort (Mr Matthews
spent 90 hours on the Sky TV special alone!) the work
is finally complete and ready for your viewing. Enjoy!
Would you like to own Taekwon-Do Television on DVD?
The
producers and Master McPhail are considering releasing
Taekwon-Do Television on DVD. Would you buy it?
It would probably be a 3 DVD set, in a single amray case.
It would probably sell for $50 (we have to recoup some
of the costs of the non-ITFNZ professionals who filmed
and are editing the show; this is also the price Sky TV
recommended).
If you are interested, email
and let us know! If we get enough interest, we would aim
to have the DVD available for Christmas presents.
Triangle Television series editing is going strong
Syed Akbar Kamal, Carl Matthews and Mark Banicevich are
working long hours to get Taekwon-Do Television ready
to air. They worked from 6pm until 1:30am on Monday 13
November - and that was a short night. Next editing night
is Wednesday, then Friday.
The show is looking awesome. It includes most of the
footage from the Sky TV special, but loads more. Of course
- the Sky special was only 98 minutes; the Triangle series
is 8 x 25 minutes! That's about twice as long. And we
have stacks more great footage to use, too. If you think
you saw it all on the Sky special, nu-uh!, way more to
see!
First Sky Television show is a major success
If you have Sky Sport 1, we trust you were glued to it
at 10:30am on Monday 6 November. If not, don't miss one
of the following three showings of our two hour special:
Wednesday 8 November, 4:00am, Sky Sport 2
Wednesday 22 November, 3:00pm, Sky Sport 2
Friday 24 November, 8:30pm, Sky Sport 2
Master McPhail, Mr Banicevich and Mr Matthews watched
it at Master McPhail's house. It was brilliant! Mr Harrison
watched it, and called Mr Banicevich as soon as the show
ended.
Congratulations to Sayad Akbar Kamal and Mr Matthews
for putting together such a great show, while Master McPhail
and Mr Banicevich were working in Spain. The show took
many, many, many hours to edit.
Triangle Television series delayed until 25 November
Did you have any idea how much work is involved in producing
a television show? Mr Matthews and Mr Banicevich are learning
quickly!
Triangle Television kindly delayed the broadcast of Taekwon-Do
Television. The eight week series now begins at 8:30pm
on Saturday 25 November. That means it runs through
Christmas! Our toll free number, 0800 800 495, is bound
to be called non-stop once this goes to air!
Anticipation is certainly building! The footage Magic
Hour Productions shot at the Nationals looks fantastic,
so the show is looking great!
Sky TV schedule will be confirmed soon!
Sky TV confirmed today that they will air our two hour
special four times during November. We don't know full
details yet, but we do know a bit...
First airing: 10:30am on Monday 6 November.
Best airing: 8:30pm on Friday 24 November.
Channels and other two airing details to come. Watch
this space!
Magic Hour Productions to the rescue!
Taekwon-Do Television had an eleventh hour emergency
when our cameraman was unable to come to the National
Tournament.
Fortunately Magic Hour Productions came to the rescue.
Magic Hour Productions recently filmed another martial
arts event which aired on Sky, so we even secured a crew
with relevant experience!
Our thanks to Zurial Harrison, long-time member of ITFNZ,
and his friend Ben Jones for their help.
Taekwon-Do Television is on Sky!
We
are thrilled to announce that the 2006 ITFNZ Nationals
will be broadcast on SKY
TV - in a two hour special, shown on several channels
at various times. This is a huge development for ITFNZ
Taekwon-Do and we congratulate Messers Carl Matthews and
Mark Banicevich for their great work.
More
details about when the show will air will follow as soon
as they become available. Remember the full shows (including
Taekwon-Do basics) will televised on Triangle
Television as an eight episode, half hour series starting
on 21 October 2006!
The 2006
Nationals will be held on 7th and 8th of October at
the Queens Wharf Events Centre in Wellington. Each Taekwon-Do
Television program will be an exciting half hour show
made up of interviews, competitor profiles and action
footage from the National Tournament.
Our first day of filming was brilliant!
On Sunday 9 July, a small team of ITFNZ members and instructors
gathered for the first day of filming for Taekwon-Do Television.
Making it happen: Carl
Matthews, Grant Croad of Niche
Media, Syed Akbar Kamal and his son Syed Abdul
Baseer of Teamwork
Productions, and Mark Banicevich.
Producers Carl Matthews and Mark Banicevich, and cameraman
and editor Syed Akbar Kamal ran the day, which started
at 9am and wrapped a little after 3pm.
We shot footage for the opening credits, gave Kamal an
idea of what to expect at the National Tournament in Wellington,
and shot the opening segments of the series with instructors
Master Paul McPhail, Mr Steve Pellow, Mr Luke Thompson
and Mr Carl van Roon. We also filmed profiles of a handful
of key Auckland competitors who were available on the
day.
A big thank you to all those who came along to help out:
Mary Jane, Debbie, Barry and Kim from Paul M Papakura,
Taryn from Infinity Papakura, John and Megan Matsuoka,
Mark Hanna, and Greg Skinner.
Kamal uses one static camera and one handheld. He
is remarkably steady with the handheld.
Master McPhail explains the knifehand, while Kamal
films with the handheld.
Carl van Roon and Sam Skinner free sparring.
Carl van Roon demonstrates two direction kick.

We have a name. We opted for something that would clearly
state what it is.
The show will air on Triangle
Television in Auckland. It is booked for Saturdays
at 8:30pm starting 21 October 2006. If you are in
Auckland, and you haven't tuned Triangle at home, you
should do it now.
Our first film shoot!
On Sunday 9 July, a number of key players will converge
upon Paul M Taekwon-Do Papakura for preliminary shooting,
including:
Taekwon-Do basics with Master Paul McPhail
Self defence basics with Mr Steve Pellow
What it is to be special with Mr Carl van Roon
Player profiles with key competitors from Auckland
North and Counties Manukau
Tournament style footage for the opening credits
Thank you to the following companies for their support
