This includes all age group divisions in each tournament, and we keep track of series results so that we can award Star Series champions for both juniors and seniors at the end of the year.

The iTkd Tournament Panel invites interested parties to submit proposals for sponsorship of the 2025 Star Series tournaments. Early indications are that interest in the Star Series will be high, and as a result sponsors can expect significant exposure to the iTKD membership and their families and friends. All levels/types of sponsorship will be considered. iTKd is however under no obligation to accept any or all proposals, and reserves the right to negotiate with one or more respondents. Sponsorship proposals should be sent via email to the Tournaments Director (tournaments@itkd.co.nz) no later than 31 March 2025. |

2025 Star Series and Nationals Updates
There will be three Star Series events this year! The first one is in Orewa on May 06, second one in Palmerston North on July 06, third one in November at a venue to be confirmed.
This year at Star Series events and at Nationals:
- as long as there are sufficient entries to allow it to happen, yellow belts and green stripes will spar in their own division (ie yellow belts and green stripes only). Green belts and blue stripes will also have their own division (ie green belts and blue stripes only). Blue belts to black stripes will continue to compete in one division as they do now. Standard sparring rules apply to all divisions. TAG instituted this change in 2024 and the feedback has been that safety has been improved and it has encouraged more coloured belts to begin their tournament sparring career.
- any sparring divisions that have 3 competitors entered will be carried out in round-robin format, possibly with shortened rounds depending on time constraints. This is a change from 2024 where round robin was run for divisions of 5 or less – the feedback was those divisions took too long to complete and were not enjoyable for the competitors.
- At Nationals, each region can enter MULTIPLE REGIONAL TEAMS if they have the numbers – but juniors (ie 15-17 years) cannot be mixed with seniors to form a team. However, team members will only be able to compete in the team they are registered in when entries close ie they cannot swap between teams from their region depending on the event. Regional teams made up of 3 persons are permitted and are encouraged if need be – we would rather have people compete than miss out.
- In Special Technique and Power at Nationals and Star Series, where there are more than 12 persons in a division, there will be a qualifying technique that competitors will need to successfully complete and score points in or they will be eliminated from the competition at that qualifying stage. The qualifying technique for Speciality Technique will be high kick, and the qualifying technique for power will be side kick.
- In Pre-Arranged, at Nationals each region will be able to enter TWO pre-arranged teams per division. At the Star Series events there is no limit on the number of pre-arranged teams that can enter and the two people in the pre-arranged team don’t have to be from the same club, and can be mixed ages (eg a pre-junior and a senior is ok), genders and ranks.
