The ITF World Cup is being held in Mar del Plata, Argentina from 25 October to 3 November 2024. This is a club based tournament open to blue belts and above who are 12 years of age or older.
Pre-covid, ITFNZ had sent a manager/coach to assist athletes with event management. This was largely funded by third party support which has now disappeared. Gaming trust funding criteria now excludes overseas travel. High Performance Sport NZ (HPSNZ) support is focused on the New Zealand team and officials for World Championships every two years.
The full cost of sending one support person is $7-10,000 airfares, accommodation etc. ITFNZ invested $20,000 from reserves in the 2023 Finland World Championships, on top of $12,000 HPSNZ funding.
The board has decided it cannot justify this investment for the 2024 World Cup.
ITFNZ has traditionally operated on a breakeven financial basis. The Strategic Plan outcomes require investment across several projects for the benefit of all members, which requires prioritization. The focus is a new membership system, whose implementation will be funded fromreserves. This will be a significant investment $30-40,000.
ITFNZ will assist with the registrations through the ITF and updates from the tournament organisers will be circulated to instructors and posted on the website page as below.

We are please to announce the appointment of a High Performance Review Panel. The committee will revise the current High Performance program.

We are looking to appoint HP Advisor Group members to over see our next campaigns: 2024-2027.
Following on the the review and recommendations submitted by our 2023 management, ITKD wants a team to establish a talent development programme across all of Taekwon-Do in New Zealand, that would ultimately feed into the NZ World Championship team every two years.
The urgent priority for the Advisor Group will be to appoint team management and coaches for the 2025 World Championships in Croatia so that training can commence immediately. They will also guide those members attending the World Cup events.
