Oceania Championships A Huge Success

Wellington has just hosted a very successful Oceania Taekwon-Do Championships. 378 competitors from New Zealand and Australia competed in a range of individual and team events, including patterns, sparring, special technique (flying kicks) and power breaking (board breaks).

Counties Manukau took out the best region award with 54 gold, 50 silver and 56 bronze medals, and Paul M Papakura was best overall club with 18 gold, 17 silver and 16 bronze medals.

The best overall belts are:

Danny Tanga – best overall male yellow belt
Alexandra Zemanova – best overall female yellow belt
Ephraim Yong Yi Tie & Stase van Haeren – best overall male green belt
Lili Davies – best overall female green belt
Marcin Kukialka – best overall male blue belt
Lauren McClutchie & Katherine Lockton – bet overall female blue belt
Tamuera Turitoa-Ratumu – best overall male red belt
Divine Williams – best overall female red belt
Bailey Jeffrey & Sean Hakeagatoa – best overall junior male black belt
Janae Whakarau – best overall junior female black belt
Brendan Doogan – best overall senior male black belt
Christine Jasberg-Young – best overall senior female black belt
