ITFNZ was such an important part of Shane's life. He relished Taekwon-Do and his Taekwon-Do family. Dave, Joey, Mana and I wanted to pass on our most sincere thanks to Master McPhail who contacted us not long after Shane had passed and took charge of his DVD Taekwon-Do tribute; to our South Island TKD family - we truly know how much of an impact Shane had made on you all; Kris Herbison for a stunning tribute at Shane's service; to the TKD guard of honour at his service; to all those who travelled throughout New Zealand and from Australia to attend his service and/or visit Shane at home, including Master McPhail, Mr Banecivich, Ms Tina Grey, Mr Burns, our Wellington TKD family, Dunedin and Riccarton TKD families we are truly humbled. For all the kind messages and cards (that are continuing to roll in), nga koha, the beautiful flowers that were received from Master Davidson, Master McPhail, Mr Pellow, Counties Manakau, Threshold and others (apologies if we miss someone as we are still working through all the flower tributes) many many thanks.
To the Redwoodtown Club members and their families both past and present, words can't express how much your hugs and tears for Shane helped ease our pain. His expectations of you all were high, and you never let him down.
Taekwon-Do family, has given us so much support you are all incredible. The pain is indescribable. We are taking solace in the fact that Shane passed in his sleep peacefully from a cardiac arrest; that when he came to get his work lunch and a loaf of bread for him and Joey on Monday night - he was still on a high from an awesome knackering weekend in Taupo doing what he loved (he said he got the opportunity to spar Carl Van Roon and was really stoked about that); and that for the past 27 years Dave, Joey, Mana and I, have been truly blessed to have the best son and brother you could ever ever ask for. There are no words that can express how much the support from Taekwon-Do has meant to us. We truly love you all for that.
Ma te Atua e manaaki. Lorraine
Shane began training at Redwoodtown Taekwon-Do Club, Blenheim in the early 1990's under the guidance of Mrs Tina Grey. Born and bred in the Marlborough district, he has continued his commitment to Taekwon-Do by becoming Instructor in 2005 and sharing his knowledge and skills with students.
He competed well at the 2008 National tournament and was working towards being selected for the World Champs this year in Argentina. He attended the training camp in Taupo on the weekend.
Shane was an awesome instructor who loved to work hard and give others the opportunity to enjoy Taekwon-Do as he did. The club was a strong family unit with his Mum Lorraine providing the backbone administratively as as an assistant Instructor.
The ITFNZ President, Board of Directors and committee members would like to extend their condolences to the Eade family.
Messages of support can sent to Lorraine Eade, 81 Vickerman Street, Grovetown, Blenheim.
