Hall of Fame

Masters Evan Davidson and Paul McPhail were recently inducted into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame (AMAHOF) and the World Karate Union Hall of Fame (WKUHOF). Both Masters had previously been inducted into the New Zealand Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2000 and 2002 respectively. They were nominated for induction into AMAHOF by the President of the NZMAHOF, Mr. Dave Miller. The ceremony and dinner was held in the Mercure Hotel, Liverpool Catholic Club Complex in Sydney.

 

On arrival in Sydney our Masters were met by Mr. Ken Harris, a former President of the Australian ITF.  They were delivered to the venue for registration and introductions by AMAHOF President, Grand Master Ramon Lawrence.  In all 15 inductees, mostly from Australia, (3 from NZ) were present and signed the Official 2010 AMAHOF booklets. A briefing was then held on how the Awards presentations would be conducted.  

Master Michael Daher (ITF Australia) offered to billet the Masters at his residence in Toongabbie. This was some 30 minutes drive from Liverpool in the Parramatta region of Sydney. They were welcomed at Master Daher’s residence by two very large dogs. Friendly Husky and a Doberman.  Master Daher provided a lovely Lebanese style BBQ. A special thanks is extended to Master Daher and Mr Ken Harris for their great hospitality over the weekend. 

Formal Dress for the induction ceremony and dinner was black suit and bow ties. This was attended by many renowned senior Martial Arts from throughout Australasia. Each inductee received a lovely Silver Ring embossed with the words AMAHOF and WKUHOF. They also received a certificate and 2 plaques from the respective organizations. Short speeches were made and Master Davidson dedicated his award to ITF Taekwon-Do, in particular, to the memory of General Choi and GM Tran.  Master McPhail, on behalf of both Masters thanks AMAHOF and WKUHOF and also paid special thanks to the members of International Taekwon-Do – New Zealand (ITFNZ) for their continued support and assistance.
