Kiwis on the Sunshine Coast

Older News

On Saturday 18th May iTKD members from SCTA, DSP Whanganui and the NZ Team competed in the Sunshine Coast Tournament run by Mr Gerard Kelly IV.

The Sunshine Coast is about an hour’s drive north of Brisbane. For all it was a chance to gain tournament experience, and for the funded NZ Team members, that experience helped them fulfil a condition of their funding.

The Kiwis fought well and hard, and lent a hand umpiring as well. The tournament ran smoothly, a testament to Mr Kelly’s hard work and team of assistants. You can check out the adventures on the team’s Facebook pages.

It was especially nice for me to compete up the road from my late uncle’s home town. A few years ago he gave me some words of wisdom when he realised he had a terminal illness: “Go for it”.

Congratulations to all,

Brendan Doogan
